Baseball Recap: Stansbury Wins Going Away Against Hillcrest

Stansbury won the last time they faced Hillcrest and things went their way on Tuesday too. Stansbury blew past Hillcrest 11-4. The Stallions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.

Karmine Gallegos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Stansbury let Jaxon Adams and Andrew Harris run wild. Adams scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Harris went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Adams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Furgal, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Stansbury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillcrest only posted an OBP of .276.

Stansbury has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Hillcrest has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Stansbury will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hillcrest: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
