Basketball Recap: Kearny Comes Up Short

Kearny was the 60-48 winner over American History when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Kearny Kardinals took a hard 75-59 fall against the American History Eagles on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Kardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Eagles are ranked 123rd).

American History got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ah'Mad Woodard out in front who posted 23 points and seven steals. Woodard is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmad Davis, who scored 19 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Kearny has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for American History, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.

Kearny has already played their next contest (against North Bergen), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. American History has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Passaic Arts & Science Charter.
