Baseball Game Preview: Cabrillo Conquistadores vs. Lompoc Braves

The Cabrillo Conquistadores will venture away from home to take on the Lompoc Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Cabrillo has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cabrillo is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since February 26th on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Righetti 4-3.

Thomas Kiesling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Blake Gregory, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Cabrillo is undefeated when Gregory posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Lompoc gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Atascadero by a score of 6-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Braves.

Lompoc's record now sits at 8-5. As for Cabrillo, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Cabrillo couldn't quite get it done against Lompoc when the teams last played back in March as they fell 3-0. Can the Conquistadores avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
