Baseball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends University's Winning Streak

University dropped their record down to 11-9 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Cathedral Fighting Irish by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Trailblazers have suffered since April 12th.

Cooper Cammack made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of University's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Burnett, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Cathedral, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On Cathedral's side, Connor Christiansen made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, Christiansen posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple.

In other batting news, Bo Blondi was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. Eli Sinsabaugh also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University will welcome Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cathedral, they will host New Palestine at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
