Dawson Springs takes loss despite strong efforts from Rex Blue and Montgomery Johnston

Recap: Dawson Springs Panthers vs. Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons

The Dawson Springs Panthers pushed their score all the way to 77 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 88-77 to Madisonville-North Hopkins. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (59), Dawson Springs still had to take the loss.

Dawson Springs' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Montgomery Johnston, who scored 35 points, and Rex Blue who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Johnston scored a full 45.5% of Dawson Springs' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Deacon Dever, who scored seven points.

Dawson Springs has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.

Dawson Springs will be playing at home against Caldwell County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, they will head out on the road to face off against Owensboro Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.
