Recap: Indian Land Warriors vs. Porter Ridge Pirates
The Indian Land Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Porter Ridge at home and fell 67-22. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, Indian Land couldn't push the score so high this time.
Indian Land's loss came despite strong showings from Amina Stoney and Charlotte Kemp. Stoney scored 6 points along with 7 rebounds, while Kemp scored 2 points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Indian Land struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Porter Ridge racked up 19.
Porter Ridge found their leader in underclassman Ashanti Taylor, who scored 9 points along with 11 assists and 8 rebounds. Taylor is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Malcolm, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds.
Indian Land's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Porter Ridge, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Indian Land will play host again and welcome Parkwood, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 409th in North Carolina, while Indian Land is ranked 150th in South Carolina). As for Porter Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Independence is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
