Baseball Recap: Pine Grove Takes a Loss

Pine Grove managed to slip by Blue Mountain the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cardinals came up short against the Eagles on Tuesday, falling 7-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Cardinals couldn't push the score so high this time.

Pine Grove saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dane Hannevig, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Hannevig is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Easton Daubert also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Pine Grove's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Blue Mountain, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Looking ahead, Pine Grove will be playing at home against Schuylkill Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Blue Mountain, they will face off against Panther Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
