Baseball Recap: Sweetwater Makes It Ten in a Row at Home

After losing to Bishop the last time they met, Sweetwater decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Sweetwater Red Devils narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bishop's Knights 4-2.

Luis Castro spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Sweetwater let Anthony Peralta and Jayden Rodriguez run wild. Peralta scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Rodriguez scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Peralta a new career-high in RBI (two).

Sweetwater's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.7 runs across that stretch. As for Bishop's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Sweetwater will be taking part in a tournament against Lincoln at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bishop's, they will take on Canyon Crest Academy in a tournament on Wednesday.
