Basketball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty lost against Independence back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Liberty Raiders lost 64-40 to the Independence Patriots. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Independence to victory were Harmony Mills and Lacey Goodson. Mills dropped a double-double with 26 points and ten rebounds, while Goodson dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Goodson has scored at least a third of Independence's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Whittaker, who posted four points and nine boards.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Independence, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12.

Coming up, Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against Meadow Bridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Independence, they will venture away from home to square off against Oak Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Hill will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Independence surely won't give up without a fight.
