Desert Mountain's loss ends six-game winning streak on the road

Recap: Desert Mountain Wolves vs. Mesa Jackrabbits

After a string of three wins, the Desert Mountain Wolves's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell to Mesa 68-64. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Desert Mountain came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Mesa is ranked 28th).

Mesa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Conway Cummard led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine assists. The team also got some help courtesy of John Petersen, who scored 16 points.

Desert Mountain's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-6. As for Mesa, they pushed their record up to 22-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Desert Mountain is on the road again on Thursday and plays Millennium at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Desert Mountain has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,940 points over their last 25 matches. Mesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
