Softball Recap: Northwest Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Northwest had won five straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 18-3 to make it six. They blew past the Eastern Eagles 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Mohawks, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Annika Carpenter, who gave up just five hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Eastern off the board. Carpenter has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mollyann Runyon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Calleigh Kattine, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

As for Eastern, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7. Having soared to a lofty 28 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Eastern's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braelyn Bevins, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Northwest will take on Waverly at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eastern, they have already played their next game, an 11-1 defeat against Clay on the 6th.
