Softball Recap: Oak Ridge Extends Road Winning Streak to 11

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Oak Ridge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Bernie Mules 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Blue Jays: when they faced off against the Mules back in April, they had to take a 2-1 loss.

Kaelyn Deckerd spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madalyn Schemel was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Madyson Ruehling, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Oak Ridge's win was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bernie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 31-9.

As of now, neither Oak Ridge nor the Mules have any future games scheduled.
