Baseball Recap: Salem Gets the Win

Salem hadn't done well against Columbia recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Eagles 4-2. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Jalen Inlow was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Salem: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-11 otherwise.

The victory made it two in a row for Salem and bumps their season record up to 10-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Columbia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Salem will venture away from home to challenge Farina South Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Columbia will be paying especially close attention to the Wildcats' contest: after the Wildcats face off against the Cougars, they'll take on Columbia again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
