Preview: Peoria Panthers vs. Cactus Cobras
The Peoria Panthers and the Cactus Cobras will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Peoria is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cactus in Arizona (Peoria is ranked 88th, while Cactus is ranked 241st).
Peoria has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Deer Valley on Friday.
Despite the defeat, Peoria had strong showings from Michelle Kogbara, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Cieraka Lynch, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kogbara hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games.
Meanwhile, Cactus' five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They secured a 35-30 W over Goldwater. The win was just what Cactus needed coming off of a 49-15 defeat in their prior matchup.
Peoria's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Cactus, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.
Everything came up roses for Peoria against Cactus in their previous meeting two weeks ago as the squad secured a 59-13 win. Will Peoria repeat their success, or does Cactus have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
