Baseball Recap: Monta Vista Takes a Loss

If Monta Vista was feeling good fresh off their 15-3 takedown of Del Mar last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Matadors fell just short of the Cupertino Pioneers by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. The Matadors haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Kaito Miyanouchi Porter was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Van Chow, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Monta Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Cupertino, they pushed their record up to 8-6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Monta Vista will square off against Lynbrook at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Matadors are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Cupertino, they will face off against MacDonald at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Condor have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
