Basketball Recap: Ti'jah Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead High Point Academy over Spartanburg Christian Academy

High Point Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Spartanburg Christian Academy Warriors. The Grizzlies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

High Point Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ti'Jah Davis, who posted 12 points. Those 12 points gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Zhuk, who put up ten points.

Spartanburg Christian Academy found their leader in freshman Delaney Caldwell, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Caldwell has scored at least a third of Spartanburg Christian Academy's points.

High Point Academy's record now sits at 3-7. As for Spartanburg Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

High Point Academy will venture away from home to challenge Clinton at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Spartanburg Christian Academy, they will host Southside Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
