Basketball Recap: Christian Fellowship Comes Up Short

Christian Fellowship has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calvary Lutheran Lions on Tuesday. The game was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but Christian Fellowship couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Christian Fellowship lost, don't look at Ariya Barton. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 8 on her way to 12 points along with six assists and six boards. Barton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed five or more in the last three games she's played. Brooke Grathwohl was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Christian Fellowship smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Christian Fellowship's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Calvary Lutheran, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Fellowship will welcome North Missouri HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Calvary Lutheran, they will host Bunceton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
