Waukesha West and Mukwonago are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Wolverines will challenge the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mukwonago will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Waukesha West extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Waterloo. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Anna Dornbach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Paige Kahle was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Kraner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Waukesha West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mukwonago). Everything went their way against Milwaukee Reagan on Wednesday as they made off with a 13-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Indians with their most commanding win of the season.
Camryn Blei made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Blei was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Mukwonago let Jayden Kremin and Riley Goral run wild. Kremin went 3-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs, while Goral went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those triples were Kremin's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Liv Eckert, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Waukesha West's record now sits at 15-10. As for Mukwonago, their record is now 6-15.
Mukwonago's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Waukesha West has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Mukwonago, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Waukesha West keep running through batters, or will the Indians buck the trend?
Waukesha West got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Mukwonago by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
