Softball Game Preview: Contreras Cobras vs. Bernstein Dragons

Contreras and Bernstein are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Contreras took a loss when they played away from home on April 3rd, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. They were the clear victors by a 26-9 margin over Hollywood. The result was nothing new for the Cobras, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

Joselyn Carrasco was incredible, getting five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (seven). Hazel Zamora was another key player, getting three hits.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Contreras kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Bernstein and Hollywood, and Bernstein kept the tradition alive. The Dragons had just enough and edged out the Sheiks 17-16 last Thursday.

The team relied heavily on KAYLEE HENRIQUEZ, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two triples. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was PARIS NUNEZ, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two stolen bases.

Contreras' win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Bernstein, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
