Volleyball Recap: Holy Spirit Prep Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Holy Spirit Prep had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the St. Mary's Academy Bobcats by a score of 3-1. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bobcats, too.

Holy Spirit Prep had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22.

Modupe Browne paced Holy Spirit Prep's offense, picking up 26 kills. Browne got some help from Ariana Lajara and her 24 assists. Lajara was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Despite the loss, St. Mary's Academy still got an impressive performance from Emily Jimenez, who had 18 digs and two assists. Jimenez has been hot, having posted 17 or more digs the last five times she's played.

Holy Spirit Prep's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for St. Mary's Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 8-10 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Holy Spirit Prep beat the Bobcats by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.
