Baseball Game Preview: Salem Quakers vs. Minerva Lions

For the second straight game, Salem will face off against Minerva. The Quakers will head out to square off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Salem is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Salem is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Minerva by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 28, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Colin Riesen was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Riesen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Troy Gibson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Derek Oesch was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Minerva now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
