Softball Recap: Piketon's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Piketon proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 13) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the McClain Tigers. The win was nothing new for the Redstreaks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Saydi Childers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Heath, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Briar Penwell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Piketon's record is now 17-2. As for McClain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piketon will venture away from home to square off against Adena at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Redstreaks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for McClain, they will head out on the road to face off against Western Brown at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
