Volleyball Recap: Gretna Falls Short Against Ranked Millard South

Gretna faced Millard South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Dragons took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. The loss put an end to the Dragons' undefeated start to the season.

Defeat or not, Gretna got some senior leadership from Maggie Miller and Lily Zimmerman. Miller had 16 assists and seven digs, while Zimmerman had 13 digs and one assist. Miller is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gretna fell to 2-1. As for Millard South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Gretna has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Marian on the 30th. As for Millard South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Skutt Catholic on the 30th.
