Volleyball Recap: Gretna Falls Short Against Ranked Millard South

Gretna faced Millard South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Dragons fell 2-0 to the Patriots. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Loss or not, Gretna got some senior leadership from Maggie Miller and Lily Zimmerman. Miller had 16 assists and seven digs, while Zimmerman had 13 digs and one assist. Miller is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gretna fell to 2-1. As for Millard South, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Gretna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Marian on the 30th. As for Millard South, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Skutt Catholic on the 30th.
