Softball Recap: Gainesville Takes a Loss

Gainesville lost against Commerce back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gainesville Leopards lost 12-5 to the Commerce Tigers.

Addysan Pickett was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Kennedy Dodson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Even though they lost, Gainesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.

Gainesville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. Commerce's victory bumped their record up to 3-6-1.

Looking ahead, Gainesville will take on Colorado in a tournament on Saturday. As for Commerce, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Edgewood at 3:30 p.m.
