Softball Recap: Seton Comes Up Short

Seton had lost eight straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-12 to make it nine. They came up short against the Lakota East Thunderhawks, falling 11-1. The Saints were not able to make up for their defeat to the Thunderhawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Seton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Arata, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Lakota East, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Lakota East's side, Kaleigh Crawford was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Crawford has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Abrie Schulte was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those triples were her first of the season. Addison Morath was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Seton will face off against Scott at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Lakota East, they will challenge Sycamore at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
