Basketball Recap: Tornillo Coyotes vs. Ysleta Indians
Tornillo had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-3 to make it seven. They came up short against the Ysleta Indians, falling 53-32. The Coyotes were not able to make up for their defeat to the Indians from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.
As for Ysleta, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-6. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 7th (when they won 60-33).
Ysleta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mateo Hernandez, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 15 points. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Soria, who posted 12 points along with five boards and four steals.
Tornillo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-32 loss against Mountain View on the 4th. As for Ysleta, they have also already played their next matchup, a 58-45 defeat against Lake View on the 4th.
