Football Recap: Hayward Comes Up Short

After flying high against Balboa last Friday, Hayward came back down to earth. The game between the Farmers and the American Canyon Wolves didn't end well, with the Farmers falling 33-14. The Farmers lost against the Wolves in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 63-16 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Hayward lost on Friday, don't look at Jaydyn Irving. Despite the final result, he threw for 189 yards and a pair of TDs.

American Canyon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Anderson out in front who rushed for 78 yards and two scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus-Jasiri Hughes, who rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown.

Hayward's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for American Canyon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hayward will square off against San Ramon Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for American Canyon, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tamalpais at 2:00 p.m. on October 4.
