Basketball Game Preview: Luray Bulldogs vs. Central Woodstock Falcons

Luray is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Central Woodstock is on a nine-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The two teams will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Luray earned a 73-62 victory over Clarke County. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Eagles are ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Luray relied on the efforts of Blake Jenkins, who went 6 for 11 to rack up 26 points, and Matthew Owens, who went 8 of 16 en route to 23 points. Thanks to that strong game, Owens now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy. Jae Frye was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Central Woodstock hadn't done well against Madison County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Central Woodstock took down Madison County 67-49.

Central Woodstock is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points over those games. As for Luray, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
