Softball Recap: Eau Claire North Sets Scoring Season-High Against Wausau East

Eau Claire North lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Wausau East, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Huskies put the hurt on the Lumberjacks with a sharp 12-4 victory on Monday. The Huskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Abbi Kosterman, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those runs were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Presler, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Kosterman wasn't the only one making solid contact: Eau Claire North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Eau Claire North's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6. As for Wausau East, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eau Claire North will venture away from home to face off against River Falls at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.57 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wausau East, they are taking a road trip to take on D.C. Everest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Evergreens will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Lumberjacks surely won't give up without a fight.
