Preview: Northside Christian Mustangs vs. Carrollwood Day Patriots
After each having a week off, the Northside Christian Mustangs and the Carrollwood Day Patriots will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Northside Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Carrollwood Day is ranked 18th).
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Northside Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-16 loss to Orlando Christian Prep. Northside Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Northside Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gavin Richardson, who picked up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Blake Van wormer who threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt. Richardson was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 62 yards.
Meanwhile, Carrollwood Day stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 41-14 victory over Gulliver Prep. The win was nothing new for Carrollwood Day as they're now sitting on four straight.
Carrollwood Day got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Carrie out in front who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Magwood , who threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt.
Northside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Carrollwood Day, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Northside Christian was dealt a bruising 37-6 loss at the hands of Carrollwood Day in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Northside Christian, Almari Brown (who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only five carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
