Basketball Game Preview: Loudonville Redbirds vs. Wellington Dukes

The Loudonville Redbirds are taking a road trip to face off against the Wellington Dukes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Loudonville will be strutting in after a victory while Wellington will be coming in after a defeat.

On Saturday, it was close, but Loudonville sidestepped Cardington-Lincoln for a 36-34 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redbirds.

Meanwhile, Wellington played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Keystone, falling 54-22. The loss continues a trend for the Dukes in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Wellington got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Mallory Pickering and Kalynne Pickering, who each put up six points. Brooke Lehmkuhl held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Loudonville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Wellington, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.

Everything came up roses for Loudonville against Wellington when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 74-22 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loudonville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
