Basketball Game Preview: Leake Central Gators vs. Kosciusko Whippets

The Leake Central Gators are taking a road trip to take on the Kosciusko Whippets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Leake Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Kosciusko likes a good challenge.

Leake Central is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Clinton just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 76-68 to the Arrows. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Gators came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Arrows are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Kosciusko's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 52-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Joseph Catholic. The contest marked the Whippets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Leake Central's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2. As for Kosciusko, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Everything came up roses for Leake Central against Kosciusko in their previous meeting back in November, as the squad secured an 82-53 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leake Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
