Volleyball Recap: Doherty Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Vista Ridge last Friday, Doherty came back down to earth. The Spartans came up short against the Pine Creek Eagles on Thursday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Doherty was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-16, 25-21.

Brenna Moerman paced Doherty's offense, picking up ten kills. Moerman got some help from Makari Cooper and her ten assists. Jane Rodriguez and Valyn Fox kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Doherty has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Pine Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Doherty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Regis Jesuit on the 24th. As for Pine Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Fruita Monument on the 24th.
