Preview: West Henderson Falcons vs. East Lincoln Mustangs
The West Henderson Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Lincoln Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, West Henderson rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Erwin 61-15 at home. The victory was just business as usual for West Henderson, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
It was another big night for Carson Dimsdale, who rushed for 157 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries. Dimsdale is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Young, who threw for 302 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
East Lincoln never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Ledford last Friday. They breezed by the Panthers on the road to the tune of 49-13.
East Lincoln found their leader in underclassman Grant Lawless, who threw for 361 yards and five touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes. Riley Shropshire was another key contributor, picking up 168 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
West Henderson has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 East Henderson and 2-8 Franklin (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.2% over those games). As for East Lincoln, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. West Henderson has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 225.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Lincoln struggles in that department as they've been averaging 190 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
