Baseball Recap: King Has No Trouble Against Tenoroc

With a playoff win on the line, King rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Tenoroc Titans. That 17 run margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Jacob Stepanek looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. King is 2-1 when Stepanek allows one or fewer hits, but 10-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Xavier Gori was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Galo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

King always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

King is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Tenoroc, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-20.

King wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 defeat against McKeel Academy on the 15th. Tenoroc does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
