Volleyball Recap: Payson's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It was a proper cat-fight when Payson duked it out with West Jordan on Wednesday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Jaguars. The win was nothing new for the Lions as they're now sitting on three straight.

Payson never let West Jordan on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-13, 25-23.

Payson's offense was headlined by Malia Wesley and Sadie DeGraffenried, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Brooklyn Shirley and her 31 assists. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Allie Mangum, racking up three apiece.

Payson's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for West Jordan, they moved to 5-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Payson will venture away from home to face off against Wasatch at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, West Jordan and Hunter will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on September 4.
