Basketball Game Preview: Clearwater Valley Rams vs. Highland Huskies

The Clearwater Valley Rams will challenge the Highland Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Clearwater Valley turned things around against Potlatch on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 38-37 photo finish over the Loggers.

Among those leading the charge was Eva Lundgren, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 17 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Highland). They strolled past Colton with points to spare back in December of 2024, taking the game 55-39. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 87th in Idaho, while the Wildcats are ranked 241st in Washington), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Clearwater Valley better focus on containing Kylee Beck and Hailey Click as the pair were huge in Highland's win. Beck went 6 of 11 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals, while Click posted 17 points and five steals. Click has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheradyn Stamper, who had ten points and six steals.

Highland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.

Highland's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points per game. As for Clearwater Valley, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.

Clearwater Valley took a serious blow against Highland when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 48-14. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Beck, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards.
