Football Recap: Hamilton Braves vs. Berean Christian Eagles

Hamilton kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 35-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Berean Christian Eagles. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kayden Strong, who rushed for 153 yards on only 15 carries, and also threw for 145 yards on 11 of 26 attempts. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards.

Hamilton's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Strong. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards.

Damon Neu had a dynamite game for Berean Christian, rushing for 153 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Joshua Werner was another key player, rushing for 43 yards and two touchdowns.

Hamilton will face off against Willows at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hamilton focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Saturday. As for Berean Christian, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Modesto Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
