Recap: Hammond Golden Bears vs. Atholton Raiders
The Hammond Golden Bears pushed their score all the way to 61 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Atholton 66-61. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hammond in their matchups with Atholton: they've now lost seven in a row.
Atholton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Deion Dent out in front who scored 16 points along with three blocks. That's the first time this season that Dent posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Thibeault, who scored 13 points.
Hammond has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Atholton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hammond will take on Reservoir at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Atholton, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Long Reach at 6:00 p.m. Long Reach presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Atholton in Maryland (Long Reach is ranked 21st, while Atholton is ranked 92nd).
