Basketball Recap: Grulla Comes Up Short

Grulla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Jubilee Brownsville Titans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-55 back in November of 2024.

Jubilee Brownsville found their leader in sophomore Nick Zarate, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 boards. Zarate is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Deron Holland, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Grulla's defeat dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Jubilee Brownsville, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-8.

Grulla has already played their next game (against La Feria), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Jubilee Brownsville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-73 loss against Hidalgo on the 24th.
