Baseball Recap: North Summit Takes a Loss

North Summit extended their losing streak to 11 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 1-15 in the process. They came up short against the San Juan Broncos, falling 11-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Braves of the 21-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

North Summit saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Lefler, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for San Juan, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

On San Juan's side, Jake Ivins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ivins has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Brody Bilbao and Corbin Middlton did most of the damage at the plate: Bilbao went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Middlton went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Cash Palmer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: San Juan beat North Summit by a score of 11-1 later that day.
