Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Izzy Popp and Reese Connor Lead Wabeno/Laona to Victory

There's no place like home for Wabeno/Laona, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Oconto Blue Devils with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday. The Rebels not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 11th (when they won 3-0).

One reason for the win was Wabeno/Laona's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-17, 25-14.

Leading Wabeno/Laona to victory were Reese Connor and Izzy Popp. Connor had 30 assists, while Popp had seven digs, six aces, and five kills. That's the most aces Popp has posted since back in August. Summer Moravec was another key player, getting seven digs and two aces.

When it comes to explaining why Oconto lost, don't look at Sam McDowell. Despite the final result, she had 16 digs.

Wabeno/Laona has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Oconto, the loss snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 13-4 record.

Wabeno/Laona didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Pittsville on the 27th. As for Oconto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Peshtigo on the 25th.
