Game recap

After four lead changes, Cienega (Vail, Ariz.) took the lead for good when it ran for a touchdown with 10:00 remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to beat Sahuaro (Tucson, Ariz.) 35-28 on Saturday.

The Bobcats led 20-14 at halftime, but the Cougars recaptured the lead on a touchdown with 9:00 remaining in the third.

By the end of the third, Cienega found itself trailing by 1 point as Sahuaro captured the lead thanks to one score in the quarter. SHS scored on a Alexander Howe touchdown run in the quarter.

CHS's standout player in the win was Christian Nash. The junior ran for one touchdown.

The Tucson school's Howe played well. The senior running back ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.

The Cougars came in giving up 13.4 points per game this season. Sahuaro struggled against the Vail school, which came in averaging 26.4 points per game.

When the two teams played each other last season, the Bobcats came away with a 31-24 victory.

The win was a nice bounce back for Cienega, which lost to Mountain View last week, 21-19. The loss comes after Sahuaro defeated Catalina Foothills 31-6 last week. The loss snapped SHS's 2-game winning streak.

Sahuaro (4-2) goes up against Palo Verde in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Cienega (4-2) locks horns with Pueblo in a II Section II game.
