Softball Recap: Colony Takes Down Ranked Wasilla

Colony faced Wasilla in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Knights put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 7-0 victory. Considering the Knights have won 21 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaidence Browning was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alexis Congdon was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Malana Bell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Colony was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in six consecutive matches.

Colony is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Wasilla, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15-1.

As of now, neither Colony nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
