The Memorial Day Matadors will square off against the Fullington Academy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Memorial Day focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-6, which was the final score in Memorial Day's tilt against Sherwood Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Eagles are ranked second).

Despite the defeat, Memorial Day got top-tier performance from Cory Ward, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown. Ward torched the secondary when he pulled down a catch that went for 80 yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fullington Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cutter Tharpe, who rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 92 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Blake Hendrickson was another key player, throwing for 236 yards and six touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Memorial Day and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Fullington Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
