Basketball Game Preview: Byron Nelson Bobcat vs. Glenn Grizzlies

The Byron Nelson Bobcat will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Glenn Grizzlies at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Byron Nelson comes in on five and Glenn on 12.

Byron Nelson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 78-29 win over Northwest. Given the Bobcat's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Texans are ranked 661st), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Belle Ratliff continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 12 of 15 on her way to 33 points along with seven boards and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkley Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists.

Byron Nelson was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Glenn sidestepped Liberty Hill for a 45-43 victory.

Glenn pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Byron Nelson, their record is now 13-6.
