Softball Recap: La Salle Academy Extends Home Winning Streak to 25

La Salle Academy faced East Providence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Rams' pitchers stepped up to hand the Townies a 10-0 shutout. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by seven runs or more this season.

Hailey Vigneau was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Samantha Sell was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Phoenyx Silva, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

La Salle Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.

La Salle Academy pushed their record up to 22-1 with the victory, which was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for East Providence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

La Salle Academy has already played their next game, a 12-0 victory against Cranston West on the 29th. As for East Providence, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-6 win against Prout on the 30th.
