Softball Recap: Hermleigh Cardinals vs. Post Antelopes
Hermleigh unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Post Antelopes by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Antelopes apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.
Peyton Miller put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Miller was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hallie Ellerbe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Post is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Hermleigh didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-0 win against Munday on the 1st. As for Post, they have also already played their next game, a 16-1 loss against Muleshoe on the 27th.
