Basketball Recap: The Park School of Buffalo Takes a Loss

The Park School of Buffalo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 72-68 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Mary's Lancers. If the Pioneers were looking for revenge after losing 74-72 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, The Park School of Buffalo still got an impressive performance from Elijah Greene, who went 12 of 17 on his way to 28 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, Greene is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. Kamron Barge was another key player, going 6 for 12 en route to 18 points and six assists.

St. Mary's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Szablewski, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 17 points along with eight boards and three blocks. Szablewski's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Kempa, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points.

The Park School of Buffalo's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for St. Mary's, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.

The Park School of Buffalo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-42 win against East on the 18th. As for St. Mary's, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 90-73 defeat against Jamestown on the 18th.
